PRIMARY ART MONDAYS- Grades 1-3

Session I: Clay and Printmaking
September 13 - October 25

This session will have three classes with a clay project designed to teach one of the basic techniques and may be glazed using a technique involving printmaking!  Three classes will be devoted to printmaking techniques.  Children will learn 1-2 of the following types: screen printing, collagraphy, heat transfer, linoleum block, or stencil printing.  Prints will be framed.

Session II: Clay and Watercolor
November 1 - January 3 No class 11/22/10

This session will have a clay project designed to teach one of the basic techniques and may be glazed using a technique like watercolor. The projects are fun and are new each year which allows a child to learn and develop mastery while creating many different works of art from grades 1-3.  We will also spend 3 classes doing watercolor, learning to use different types of watercolor paint and several techniques on wet and dry 140# watercolor paper. A fun process with amazing results!  Paintings will be framed.

Session III: Clay and Wire Work
January 10 - March 7 No class 1/17/11, 2/21/11

This session will have a clay project designed to teach one of the basic techniques and will be a mixed-media piece including wire. The projects are fun and are new each year which allows a child to learn and develop mastery while creating many different works of art from grades 1-3.  We will also spend 3 classes doing wire projects, learning to use special wire tools and techniques.  Great fun!

Session IV: Clay and Papier Mache
March 14 - May 2 No class 4/18/11

This session will have a clay project designed to teach one of the basic techniques. The projects are fun and are new each year which allows a child to learn and develop mastery while creating many different works of art from grades 1-3.  We will also spend 3 classes doing papier mache, learning to use 2 different types with Dr. Johnston's Magical Sticky Stuff.
